On 4 June 2016, Tillsonburg Airport CYTB was a flurry of activity as COPA Flight 181 held their annual COPA For Kids event and the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association had their monthly Fly Day and Open House.

The day started with overcast but soon turned into a nice fair-weather afternoon with lots of sun and moderate temperatures.

In the morning COPA Flight 181 hosted their annual COPA For Kids Flight and took over 40 children for their first airplane ride. By far the most popular aircraft to fly in was Danny Richer’s Bell 206B. Other participating aircraft included a Mooney and Cherokee.

Early in the afternoon Martin Mattes flew his Aero L-29 Delphin and gave our friend and contributor to airic.ca, Larry Flieler a full aerobatic flight.

The Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association dominated the skies over Tillsonburg in the afternoon with check-rides and flight experiences.

The Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association helped fulfill John Clarke’s bucket list with a half hour flight experience in the Harvard. John’s brother was a post-war flight instructor in the RCAF and died during a training flight. John always wanted to take a flight in the Harvard and to learn about the aircraft his brother flew.
