3 May 2020, was to be the second year in a row for a ceremony to be held at Crystal Beach to honour the 75th anniversary of the end of the Battle of the Atlantic. Since no public gatherings are currently permitted a contingent of three members laid a wreath in the waters of Lake Erie. North American T-28 Trojan owners, Alf Beam, of Fort Erie and Danny Richer, were tasked with performing a flypast over Crystal Beach during the wreath laying ceremony.

In 2019, the Fort Erie Navy League of Cadets changed their name from NLCC Black Creek to NLCC Fort Erie after a Canadian Navy Frigate named Fort Erie that fought during the Battle of the Atlantic. The HMCS Fort Erie (K670/312) was commissioned at Quebec City in October 1944 as a River Class Frigate. She was assigned to Escort Group 28 for the remainder of the war. The HMCS Fort Erie was sold in 1946 to Marine Industrious but reacquired by the Royal Canadian Navy in 1954 and rebuilt as a Prestonian class ocean escort. She was paid off in 1965 at Halifax and broken up at La Spezia Italy in 1966.

The battle of the North Atlantic lasted 6 years. Over 4,000 Canadians from the Canadian Navy, Merchant Navy and Air Force lost their lives keeping the supply lanes open between North America and Europe. 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the battle.
