Mike Gillian presents a high energy display of warbird aerobatics in historic and rare FM-2 Wildcat.  The Wildcat was the main American Naval Fighter that opposed the Japanese from Pearl Harbor all the way through Guadalcanal.  It was also used in the European theatre by the British as they didn’t have an effective fighter to operate from Aircraft Carriers.

Mike Gillian has been flying since 1987 and started in Cessna 150’s.  Has always had a passion for aviation and an interest in WWII naval history.  Purchased the Wildcat in 2007.  Have a 500’ waiver and a formation card.  Enjoys flying the Wildcat and talking with fans about it.

The FM-2 is a development of the original model made lighter and more powerful in order to operate from escort carriers.  It is called the “Wilder Wildcat” and served in both the Atlantic and the Pacific.  This airplane was built in 1944, went to the West Coast, and then to the Glenview Naval Air Station.
