jamhunt2016arrival

On 28 May 2016, Hawker Hunter T7 XL600 arrived at the Jet Aircraft Museum in London, Ontario. Graham Rawlinson and Simon Pont of the Jet Aircraft Museum purchased the classic Royal Air Force jet trainer from an auction in England earlier this year. They dismantled the airframe and imported it to Canada in May. The Hunter will be assembled and on static display at Airshow London in September. The plan is to have the two-seat Hunter flying in 2017.

Hawker Hunter T7, XL600 was built in 1958 as a side-by-side two-seat trainer. Powered by a single Rolls Royce Avon Mk 122 jet engine the Hunter can reach speeds up to 690 kts. XL600 was delivered to the RAF 65 Squadron in late 1958 and has less then 5,000 hours on the airframe. In England, it flew on the civil registry as G-RAXA and G-VETA. Last flown in 2014, XL600 was mid way through a major inspection when it’s previous owners, Midair Squadron closed and the company’s three aircraft (two Hunters and a Cambera) were put up for auction.
