“We’ve been asked to do what we do best… inspire Canadians,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Mike French, Commanding Officer, Canadian Forces Snowbirds. “Through Operation INSPIRATION, we not only want to salute the front-line health-care workers, first responders, and essential workers, but also all Canadians doing their part to stop the spread of COVID-19. We want Canadians to know we’re in this with you.”
On May 10th, 2020 the Snowbirds flew three flights over Ontario. From CFB Trenton-Toronto, Toronto-Niagara Falls then London, London-Barrie.
Snowbirds 10 & 11 arrive at CYXU London ahead of the team
After flying over hospitals and subdivisions at London the team arrives at the airport to refuel and prepare the jets for the last flight of the day.
Once the aircraft are fuelled and inspected the team takes a break and plans the next leg of their flypast. Rain in the Barrie area pushed departure from London back by 45 minutes.
Snowbirds 10 & 11 depart first for Barrie.
The much anticipated visit to London was well received and hundreds of people came out to view the Snowbirds. The visit was a great moral boost during the COVID-19 restrictions. This telephoto image is deceiving as all families remained with their cars and respected social distancing rules.
The Team performed single-ship take-offs and formed up on route to Stratford.
