At the September 2009 Vintage Wings of Canada Open House Canadian World War Two fighter pilot James Francis “Stocky” Edwards was reunited with his WWII mount; A Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawk adorned in Stocky’s markings from when he flew with RAF 260 Squadron.

VWoC P-40 Kittyhawk manager and pilot, Dave Hadfield, pre-flights the fighter.
Dave Hadfield helps Stocky into the rear seat of the dual-control Kittyhawk.
Dave lines the P-40 up for take-off on Gatineau’s 6,000ft runway.
We do a right-hand climb out to form up on the P-40 and head to Ottawa for a photo-shoot with the Parliament Buildings.
On the way to Ottawa we pass the Canada Aviation museum at Rockcliffe.

A sight that many of Stocky’s adversaries would have seen during WWII.
All to soon we break off the photo escort and head back to Gatineau. Dave then handed the controls over to Stocky so he can fly the P-40 once again for a half hour.
Dave is seen landing at Gatineau after the flight with Stocky.
Stocky gives a big wave to the crowd that welcomed him back with a thunderous applause.
Vintage Wings of Canada’s founder, Michael Potter tows the P-40 back to the hangar with Stocky and Dave.
